Mont Laurier Quebec
Martin
and Dom take Zen to Inaugural Flight

Journalists gather to witness ribbon cutting of Continental's
first flight.
Dec 14 2007; Mont Laurier Quebec Canada: Today Continental
Air Lines opened an international door to the world for the Laurentian
tourist region of Quebec with their Inaugural jet flight, direct from
Newark to Macaza Quebec.
My hosts at the Rabaska Outfitters arranged for me
to attend the event as a journalist. I was happy to witness the landing
of the first jet, and even happier to think of the economic benefits
this will undoubtedly bring to the tourism businesses in the area.

Reporters arriving from New York will be treated to a snowmobile experience
after the ribbon cutting and the speeches. Volounteers from Constantineau
Sports in Mont Laurier will take them for a driving lesson.

Inside about one hundred reporters and tourism people get the chance
to mingle, network, and celebrate what will surely become a powerful
partnership between Continental Air and the tourism businesses of
the Laurentians. I get to see my favorite tourism person in Quebec,
Christine Labreque, the woman that created and promotes the Wood Runner
Trail in the Upper Laurentians Region. (Go and Google "Wood
runner trail" to visit her excellent Quebec snowmobiling
web site.)

These two Royal Canadian Mounted Police (Mounties) graciously agreed
to pose for me with my new friends Mr Constantineau and his son from
the Constantineau Bombardier dealership in Mont Laurier. I figured
that they deserved a bit of special attention, seeing as how they
volounteered to bring a dozen snowmobiles, for the reporters to have
some fun. The Constantineau family has been serving the sport of snowmobiling
for decades in Mont Laurier, and in my books, they are the part of
the Royal Family of Quebec snowmobiling.

Here you see Mr Constantineau (left), and Rabaska owner Martin, helping
one of the journalists to ride a snowmobile for the first time. This
really demonstrates the true spirit of our sport. I spoke to the reporter
afterwards, and she wanted to go for another ride. We have a new convert!
This experience can open the eyes of a person who has never seen the
joy and fellowship that our sport offers to all. Sometimes, people
just think we are noisy and dangerous. Nothing could be further from
the truth. Snowmobiling helps us to get excersise, fresh air, and
gets us out into the beauty of the outdoors.

Martin poses for the camera with the beautiful Dom from Rabaska in
front of the new Airport Terminal. They worked long and hard along
with many others, to make this impossible dream become a reality.

Martin
and Zen Explain Everything! (funny video)
The snowmobile industry in Quebec has suffered in recent years because
of a lack of snowfall, so this new flow of tourists will be welcomed
and deeply appreciated.
Imagine, a 'fly and ride' project that brings the whole world
to a tiny airstrip three hours north of Montreal. An ambitious dream
that became a reality today.
